Questions about compress image
Is my image uploaded?
No. The file is read and processed by your browser on your device. This site makes no network request containing your image.
Will the file always get smaller?
Not always. An already well-compressed image, or PNG output from a photo, can come out larger. The result size is shown before you download so you can keep the original instead.
Why is PNG quality not adjustable?
PNG is lossless. Browsers do not expose a PNG quality setting, so PNG output keeps every pixel. Use WebP or JPEG for smaller photos.
Which format gives the smallest file?
For photos, WebP usually makes smaller files than JPEG at similar visual quality, and both are far smaller than PNG. For graphics with flat colors or transparency, PNG or WebP keep edges clean. Try WebP first and compare the sizes shown in the preview.
What quality setting should I use?
Start around 75 to 85 for photos. Lower settings save more space but compression artifacts start to show in detailed areas. Compare the before and after in the preview before you download.
